Important: this is "best effort", not a PDF/A certification
- This tool adds what a PDF/A needs that can be added from the outside: an embedded color profile (OutputIntent) and the XMP metadata that identifies the file as PDF/A.
- It can’t guarantee the rest of the ISO 19005 standard over a PDF that was already built by another program: it can’t force every font used to already be embedded, nor remove transparencies or JavaScript if the original PDF has them. If you need certified PDF/A conformance (for example for a legal procedure), validate the result with a specialized tool like veraPDF before relying on it.
- Only "B" (Basic) conformance level is offered — level "A" (Accessible) requires tagged content this tool can’t guarantee.
- If the PDF has a password, remove it first with Unlock PDF.
